Has Curse of Oak Island found anything?
Various items have surfaced over the years that were found on the island, some of which have since been carbon-dated and found to be hundreds of years old. Although these items can be considered treasure in their own right, no significant main treasure site has ever been found.
Whilst the fabled treasure hoard has yet to be discovered, various intriguing historical items have been dug up over the years by the Laginas themselves and by earlier treasure hunters.

It's no secret that treasure hunting on Oak Island costs a fortune. And while grants and the History Channel might provide some financial security, much of The Curse of Oak Island dig is privately funded by Marty Lagina and his business partners.
Pirate Treasure
The most popular theory claims Oak Island holds the buried treasure of a 17th Century pirate named Captain Kidd. According to local legend, a dying sailor on Kidd's crew claimed that £2 million worth of treasure was buried on the island.
It is believed that the island is hiding one of the greatest treasures of all time, but no one has been able to find it.
In 1795, a teenager named Daniel McGinnis found an oval-shaped recession in the ground on the island. With little evidence that there was anything to be discovered, McGinnis started digging in the area and subsequently hit wooden planks every ten feet.

Recently, the Friends of Oak Island Society released a statement on their website that due to continuing concerns around the Covid-19 pandemic, they would not be holding tours of Oak Island this year.
Where do the Lagina brothers get their money?
Whilst working as an engineer for them he gained a degree in law from the University of Michigan in 1982. He then went on to found his own company, Terra Energy Ltd, which became a pioneer in natural gas extraction. As a result, the company became one of the biggest shale gas operators in Michigan State.
Visitors are provided the opportunity to visit the island to learn about the ongoing treasure hunt through guided tours offered by Oak Island Tours Inc. Tours must be pre-booked - visitors are not permitted to walk the island without being on a previously booked tour.

The majority of the island is owned by The Michigan Group, which is also run by the Lagina brothers. Oak Island is split into 32 different lots (via Oak Island Treasure).
Unconfirmed reports suggest that cast members make around $100,000 per episode. With an average of 20 episodes per season, that would mean that the brothers are paid about $2 million each season.
As the History Channel's most popular television series, the network likely pays the cast members — after all, it works just like other reality series — per episode and might even fund some of the Oak Island treasure hunt.
However, the main reason they can't just dig up the entire island is because such an operation would wreak havoc on the ecosystem of the island and its surroundings.
According to tradition, Connecticut's Royal Charter of 1662 was hidden within the hollow of the tree to thwart its confiscation by the English governor-general. The oak became a symbol of American independence and is commemorated on the Connecticut State Quarter.
